Heath Wins Swami
- Updated: February 12, 2024
Hanging on to a nearly season long lead over the field, Guy Heath wins a third Swami title in 17 seasons. It came down to the end, with Swami Paul Alexander needing a 49ers win but not to cover the 2.5 spread, making it a narrow possibility that he would repeat and upset Heath’s big lead entering the playoffs. Being that recent Super Bowls have been very close, Heath worried that this one could slip away to possibly the toughest challenger in recent years in Alexander.
Not to be forgotten, the duo of Zeller & Zeller, Marc & Jackie, have always finished near the top in every season they’ve played in. Marc, who correctly chose the Chiefs in the Super Bowl Draft, finished 2nd with his 11-point bonus. Just 2 points from winning it all, it makes you think of those 0.5 losses that escaped our grasps during the regular season, the missed Lock here or there, or even a missed win in the playoffs. That is how close it can be. Though Marc was mathematically eliminated from winning going into the Super Bowl, he got it right where we missed out. The Chiefs were the 6th team taken, even though they were the reigning World Champions. The 5 teams taken before were the Ravens, 49ers, Cowboys, Bills, and yes: even the Cleveland Browns.
Thanks to all players for another fun and exciting Swami season. It’s bittersweet that football is over until next September, but hope everyone will be back for Season 18 and wishing all of you a happy off-season and a fun spring and summer ahead.
Oh, and that Patrick Mahomes is something special, in case you forgot.
