After a disappointing 0-2 start, the Seahawks looked more like the Seahawks today against the Bears.
Seattle won easily against Chicago, dominating in all phases of the game on the way to a 26-0 win.
The Seahawks’ defense completely shut down the Jimmy Clausen-led Bears offense, as Chicago punted on all 10 of its possessions and never even got close to scoring. Obviously, the Seahawks won’t get to play an opponent this easy every week, but the Seahawks can feel good that their defense looks like it’s getting back on track.
And although Marshawn Lynch exited early with a hamstring injury, Seattle’s offense looked good as well. Jimmy Graham looked more like Jimmy Graham,Russell Wilson was accurate and effective passing, and backup running backThomas Rawls was a revelation in relief of Lynch, playing very well in the second half.
Best of all for Seattle was the special teams: Tyler Lockett scored a 105-yard kickoff return touchdown, and Richard Sherman had a 64-yard punt return on a trick play that took advantage of the Bears’ heavy focus on Lockett. Steven Hauschka also kicked well for Seattle.
Not much can be said for the Bears, except that they look like the worst team in the NFL right now. Beating them isn’t much of an accomplishment.
But Seattle did what good teams should do against bad teams, and took care of business.
