Amodeo Wins Swami
- Updated: February 5, 2018
With a record-setting playoff run, Mike Amodeo has taken the Swami title. Along with a stunning Philadelphia Eagles victory in Super Bowl LII, their first World Championship, Amodeo overcame Andy Cressman for his 2nd overall Swami crown.
For Cressman, a great season indeed–he took the lead in the fall and never looked back until last night where Philadelphia backup Nick Foles shocked the world and Tom Brady’s New England Patriots 41-33. Mike becomes the lowest seed entering the playoffs to take the title at the #6 spot. Only once before has the Number 1 seed failed to win it all in Swami.
Many Swami Leaguers were happy for many reasons. One, many took the Eagles hoping they would not have to see Tom Brady hoist his 6th Lombardi Trophy, and two, to see the Swami Trophy “come back home”. Many at kickoff exalted the chant “Bring It Home!–Bring it Home!” Former Swami Newberg said earlier in the week that it would be nice to see a new Swami crowned if Cressman were to win, but quoted yesterday that he was happy to see Mike win it again after all these years. Two-time champ Holly Stewart wanted the Eagles all the way, and is happy to have Mike displaying the trophy for the year ahead.
Cressman and Amodeo faced each other in the Fantasy Football Playoffs, with roles reversed; Cressman the underdog upset Amodeo. Yesterday, it’s Mike’s turn.
Congratulations on an amazing playoff run and championship to Mike Amodeo, and to a fantastic year for Andy Cressman.
Thanks to all for another great year of Swami. To Joe Mendes, Wayne Connor, Tim Noto, Ken Brodsky, Paul Alexander, Holly Stewart, Joe Sozio, Maureen Connor, Mark Newberg, Mike Amodeo, and Andy Cressman, you make the entire NFL season very fun and exciting every single week. Great job!
