Heath Wins Swami
- Updated: February 4, 2019

In the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever, Guy Heath captures his 2nd Swami title in 12 years due in part to the Patriots beating the spread of 2.5 points. Paul Alexander’s Super Bowl Patriots pick pulled through, but the 11-point bonus still brought him just 1 point short of Heath who entered the big game with a 10 point margin. The 2 points picked up by Heath was just enough for the 2018-19 Season 12 crown.
Holly Stewart’s Rams, one of the highest scoring offenses this season, just couldn’t overcome New England’s stingy defense. Los Angeles only scored a single field goal which tied the Miami Dolphins Super Bowl 6 low mark of the same amount when they fell to Dallas 24-3 in 1972. Stewart, who has 2 Swami championships, came into the post season with tremendous weekly results toward the end of the season to grab 4th place. Congratulations to Holly who always is a major threat every season.
For Alexander, another great season in only his 2nd year in Swami League. Expect him to win his first championship very very soon. This season was destined to be a great one and it didn’t disappoint. We had our largest pool of players thus far with 17, and we had an early rookie threat with Jon Portnoy who went on a string of wins to start the season in 1st place for 4 weeks. Then the perennial Swami Mark Newberg took over for most of the season with Heath chasing close behind for 8 weeks until the last 3 weeks when Newberg was finally overcome.
Now begins the reign of “The Heathen”, where you can expect 365 days of lording the title over all who think they know football. “It’s mine now. It’s where it belongs. Welcome home Swami trophy.” Heath was congratulated by many players via text and in person on his accomplishment. “It’s nice to be recognized as the King of Football for sure, and I very much appreciate the nice words and enjoy the competitiveness we have every single week.”
Thanks to all who made this season great!
