Maker’s Mark
- Updated: September 10, 2013
Mark Newberg has started the 2013 campaign with an impressive double-digit 10-win week grabbing major wins on the grid with Oakland, Buffalo, Dallas, and the Jets who won in the final seconds.
Trying to become the first 3-time Swami, Mark sets to relive the tale of his impressive 2007 wire-to-wire streak that earned him his 2nd title 5 seasons ago. It’s a marathon not a sprint, but other players are seeing the difficulty of starting hot out of the gate, some seeing this for their first time. Holly, the current Swami, swept the Monday Night games to get right on the heels of the new leader with 9 wins for the week. With a 7-game lead over last-place Jeremy (3 wins), there’s some nice distance for Newberg on that front. Newcommers Hughes (8 wins) and Grasso (7 wins) are getting a taste for measuring and employing the almighty spread.
It’s only 1 week after all, but now the worry begins for those who have to make up games in Week 2. This is where the guessing game takes on a new layer of stress for both the leader and the laggers behind him. Every choice from here on out comes with a few more ounces of sweat, and every game is watched more closely. Welcome to the new season.
