Cards Comeback

The Arizona Cardinals pulled off a remarkable 33-30 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, November 1, at AT&T Stadium. Dallas appeared to be in control for much of the afternoon, building a 14-0 lead and eventually extending its advantage to 17-3 in the third quarter. However, Arizona began to find its rhythm when backup quarterback Gardner Minshew replaced Jacoby Brissett. The momentum shifted dramatically when running back Tyler Allgeier broke loose for a spectacular 63-yard touchdown run, cutting the deficit to 17-10 and giving the Cardinals new life.

Minshew provided an immediate spark, throwing three touchdown passes without an interception to lead Arizona’s comeback. Allgeier continued to make an impact, finishing with 147 rushing yards and a touchdown, while also catching a five-yard scoring pass. Tight end Trey McBride added a 14-yard touchdown reception, and Michael Wilson delivered one of the biggest plays of the afternoon. With just six seconds remaining and Dallas leading 30-24, Minshew connected with Wilson on a 13-yard touchdown pass to tie the game. Chad Ryland missed the extra point that would have won it, sending the contest into overtime instead.

In overtime, Arizona’s defense came up with a critical stop, highlighted by a sack from Josh Sweat that forced Dallas to punt. The Cardinals then moved into scoring position, setting up Ryland for a 42-yard field goal that sailed through the uprights to complete the stunning comeback. Wilson finished with eight catches for 111 yards and a touchdown, while Minshew’s performance completely changed the complexion of the game. For Dallas, the loss was particularly frustrating after surrendering a 14-point lead and allowing 27 second-half points. The Cowboys had numerous opportunities to put the game away but couldn’t make the necessary defensive stops. Arizona walked away with an impressive road victory, while Dallas was left wondering how a game that seemed firmly in its control slipped away.
